dontknow .. headbang :?: The word seems to be getting out more that there's NOT going to be a 5th ANNUAL PONY RUN for 2010. The Biltmore Estate MCA National Show is taking it's place..
So, all I can say is if you want a 2010 Pony Run then SOUND OFF here and maybe the word will get back to our good ole Prez.
Could it be possible to have both events next year ? Or is that asking to much.? Lets hear what you want to say about it, if everyone puts in their 2 cents worth then who knows it might add up to a buck. headbang

I am looking forward to the National show at Biltmore next year, but I will miss the Pony Run. I'm sure it would be a LOT OF WORK for the BRMCOA to put on both events, so I'm def not complaining, but I sure will miss it and would def come IF they did a Pony Run in 2010. toothy9

It would be great to have a pony run in 2010, :D but a few things would have to happen to even think about it that a lot of people do not realize: dontknow

First: it would have to be move up to a least spring time, no way you could have the pony run and the nationals close to each other. The club would still be stretched even then. :(

Second: and prolly one of the biggest obsticles, "SPONS0RS", you have to have these and plenty of them for a show to succeed. :) It would be very difficult to try and get so many sponsors for two major shows in one year. (It would be like putting on two MCA Nationals in the same year.) dontknow and I don't think many sponsor would donate money to both in the same year, the economy would almost for sure dictate that. :!:

Third: would people be willing to come to both shows, dontknow if they are out of state I would almost guess they would choose one over the other, which would prolly cause one show or the other to not have a great of a turn-out as we would hope. :(

So yes it sounds like a great idea, but the time, effort, money, logistics, etc. could be overwelming for a club of our size, We would have to have a lot of volunteers and lots of sponor money. salute

Just my two cents worth, what is everyones else take on this, now be reasonable , and don't just say "it would just be great to have both", give some good ideas or opinions on this. ;)

Wow, needless to say, it would be great to have a pony run in 2010. As Rick just explained, it would be, in a sense, just too much. You all know that our pony run is one of the best attended and best marketed and well known all Mustang event in the county. When you have 322 Mustangs show up for a pony run and 240 for a car show (in all day pouring rain) you then know that we have a very special 'product' to offer. Well, our 'product' for 2010 is the Nationals at the Biltmore and I need to concentrate on making that the BEST nationals ever. There will not be a pony run in 2010 (besides, we need to keep it fresh and let people 'want' to come back because they miss it). I am TRYING to get a mini pony run organized for the evening of the 2nd of September (Thursday before the nationals), where we do a pony run from the Biltmore area to Mt. Pisgah (at the Inn). Stay tuned!!!

Joe

The 2009 Pony Run was totally awesome. There is one major problem. We are having to travel at too fast a speed to even try to keep up with the lead pack. This is a saftey issue that needs to be addressed. Maybe every 50 cars we need a car that stays between 45 and 50. I don't know what causes the huge gap between cars. There were times we were doing almost 60 and still could not keep up. Behind us there were huge gaps in the line of stangs too. I think Joe and all his wonderful workers need a break from the Pony Run in 2010. With the nationals having to require so must time and work it is not fair to ask for a big Pony Run too.

I was with the first group and about 10 cars back, and we never got up to 60mph during the trip, we where lucky to get 45-50. I think maybe some of the drivers slow down for the views then have to speed up to catch the rest and it just snowballs from there. dontknow
I don't think there is a way to remedy that, cause you could have someone that slows down in between the cars that try to keep a certain speed. Just would be hard to do. IMO
dontknow

All I am saying is there needs to some way for the group to stay together. As Joe stated "stay close to the car in front of you." Also all those bikers the pedal kind were really scary in the tunnels. Other than this the Pony Run is fantastic.

:) Yell, I was with the 1st group as well, the 1st group didn't seem to have any problems, but I really felt sorry for the 2nd group they looked like they were flying on the parkway, and spread out to much, I'm sure they didn't get to enjoy it as much as the 1st group. Also, I heard that they were (2) accidents was that in the 2nd group as well.?

i thought the mustang national show was in the spring. if it's in the fall i'll try to make it.

i was towards the rear of the second group. we did have times of 60+ mph, and i was nowhere up the rear of the bullitt in front of me. i would have liked to have been a little closer, and slower, but having been in several cruises here in florida, it's almost impossible for a large group of cars to stay close together unless they have a lead car, and " herders." I was two cars behind the light blue one that slung into the wall, who else got into it?
this year we had just over 130 mustangs travel from fort lauderdale to islamorada (below key largo) for a 9-11 cruise. it was the closest i've been to staying a constant speed. we had three lead LEO cars, and between 10-12 local cops, and FHP. blocking on ramps, and "herding" us into the right lanes.
