The National Capital Region Mustang Club is organizing a Cruise to the Races for the Jefferson 500 vintage races on May 19
Here’s the plan:
Gather early (7:30am) on Saturday morning, May 19, at the Juke Box Café (7039 Columbia Pike, Annandale, VA - where we have our club meetings), leaving no later than 8:00am, and caravan to Summit Point Raceway (arriving about 9:30 am).
The Jefferson 500 is an annual vintage racing event at Summit Point Raceway. Summit Point is located in West Virginia, just a few miles across the VA state line. This year, the event has Peter Brock as Grand Marshal. Cobra enthusiasts will recognize Mr. Brock’s name as the prodigy who penned the design for the Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe. Later on, Mr. Brock parted ways with Carroll Shelby and ran the professional race team for Datsun, winning multiple SCCA TransAm under 2.5 liter championships (Datsun 510) and multiple SCCA C-Production championships (Datsun 240Z).
This year, the Jefferson 500 folks have partnered with the Country Roads Car Club to give us a great deal. For $15, you will get:
• Entry to the races
• Entry to the car show
• Three (3) parade laps around the track
Please let me know if you are interested in either cruising up to Summit Point with us, or joining us at the track. Please reply to
