Here is some info from Joe for those who will be going to the 45th Anniversary in Birmingham Alabama April.
the 15th.

Calling all Mustangs! The Blue Ridge Mustang Club of Asheville would like to invite you to join us in a Pony Drive to Birmingham to celebrate the 45th Anniversary of the Mustang. If Asheville is on the way to Birmingham for you (or close by) please consider joining up with us to do a Pony Drive on the 16th of April. We have made arrangements at two local hotels for special $59 rates (single or double) on the night of the 16th. Expected departure for Birmingham is before 10am on the 16th. There is a possibility that we may pick up a few other Mustangs once we are on the way, so the Pony Drive will be a structured drive with both rest stops and gas stops. Plan on a 6-8 hour drive to Birmingham.

People can email me at ponydrive2009@gmail.com or call us at 828-667-9213

Here is maps of the hotels.

Just in from Joe.

Quote:
Hey all,

For those of you who are going on the Pony Drive to Birmingham....the route we are taking has changed to I-40 West to Chattanooga then 59 South to Birmingham. It adds about 50 miles to the drive, but we are meeting up with Jim Silverman and the Great American Pony Drive from New England in Chattanooga on Thursday and will convoy in with them. We may have 50 or more Mustangs in this caravan from Chattanooga. So, this will be the new route that we will take on Thursday the 16th. We will meet at a location with easy on access to the interstate and figure on a 4 hour drive. Thanks!!

Joe

blob6 blob6 What a fun time that was at the 45th Birthday Event for the MUSTANG. I'll be posting up some pictures when I get a chance, if you didn't get to go you sure missed out on a wonderful event. I have never seen so many and different Mustangs,Shelbys, Roushs, Saleens, Steedas,Mach 1's, Cobras, Mustang II's, you name them and they were there, from the 64-1/2 thru the 2010 models. From the poor man rides to the super rich man rides they were just wonderful to see them all together. They came from all over the world, we meet people from France, Japan, Neatherlands, we heard stories of people driving thousands of miles to come to this event. The Racing events were also super, Ford had two factory Mustangs that put on the drifting events for the crowd and they were just unbeliveable. I am now a big fan of the drifting..
It'll be a few days before I can stop talking about everything at the event, it'll sure be something you won't forget. Can't wait til 50th Birthday Party. I'll be posting more pictures in the photo gallery soon. headbang headbang
